GCSE are changing! New GCSEs in English and Maths started in September 2015.

Other subjects follow in September 2016 or Sept 2017.

Combined Science to replace previous arrangement of Core at end of Year 10 and Additional at end of Year 11. Combined Science will have no end of Year 10 exam. Worth two GCSEs and containing papers in Biology, Chemistry and Physics but all will be examined at the end of Year 11.  No ISAs / Practical Coursework, this will now be assessed in a written paper at the end of year 11.  Triple Science available within the Options system.

Mixture of old GCSEs ( A* to G ) and New GCSEs ( 1 – 9 ).

By September 2016 the subjects who will be left on old GCSEs will be D & T subjects, Business, Economics and Media Studies.

Generally new GCSEs have no Controlled Assessment / Coursework and all the assessment is at the end of the course ( end of year 11 ). A few exceptions to this such as Art, Drama, Music and PE.  Check the Options booklet on this and speak to the teachers.
